TWD--Katharine Hepburn Brownies

This weeks recipe was chosen by Lisa of the blog Surviving Oz. Lisa recently won the competition to redesign the TWD logo.

Isn't it great?!

So, Lisa got to choose the recipe for this week and she chose Tribute to Katharine Hepburn Brownies. They are rich and decadent and pure chocolate. They have a little bit of cinnamon and espresso powder in them and they are pretty darned good.

My 8x8 pan was in use when I made these, so I used a 9x9 metal pan. I baked for about 25 minutes and they looked good, even if they were a little thin. I was worried about the goo-factor of these, since Dorie mentioned that they can be fairly gooey.

And while they were certainly fudgy and slightly gooey, they weren't a mess.

The verdict?? Good brownie.

My kids don't care for them, but that leaves more for me and some to share. These would be perfect under a scoop or two of ice cream. Thanks, Lisa!! It's a fabulous logo and wonderful recipe.

I bet using a slightly larger pan would have solved my over-goo problems. Yours look great - I'd be happy to take a few of those off your hands!

The addition of espresso and cinnamon sounds great....

They look very chocolaty! I served some with a variation of Dorie's vanilla ice cream and it was a great combination.

These look fantastic. They were gooey but that made for some good eating. I can see why the little ones didn't like them. Great job and beautiful pictures.

And they were perfect under ice cream! When I saw your picture of the brownies I did a double take. I almost posted one exactly like it.

Mine were yummy but SO gooey- yours look just right. I'm with you, sometimes it's not such a bad thing if the kids don't like them! :)

Your brownies look terrific Pamela - and it's great that the kids didn't like them, as you said, 'cause there is more for you!

Your brownies look great!! I can't wait to try mine. :) And I too use the "more for me!" phrase...often!

Oh, those look so tasty! Mine weren't quite as gooey. I baked them in a ceramic 8" pan and for 30 min. which is probably why. I wish my husband hadn't liked them so I could have eaten them all, but I had to share.

Glad you liked, sorry the kids didn't!

They look super-yummy! The cinnamon and espresso flavors are pretty strong, so I can see why the boys wouldn't like them.

I like the brownie's thickness...makes it look very elegant actually and you are right, it looks like a gooey chocolatey brownie should look like! Great job, very nice.

I didn't have a goo problem, either. I must say, your pictures look really good - those brownies are just begging to be eaten!

I'm surprised your kids didn't like these. I wonder if it was all the coffee flavor? Anyway, yours look great to me!

Your brownies do look great! I like the thinner look from the 9x9 pan and I think the gooey-ness factor would be just right too - it certainly looks it!

I think if I made them again I would use milk chocolate. I'm just not a fan of bittersweet or the dark chocolate. And I like my brownies more cakelike. It's a preference. Yours look fabulous!

Your brownies look fantastic! They were definitely gooey - perhaps a bit too much for me, but glad you liked them :) A brownie sundae sounds so good right now.

More brownies for you, right? Mine son liked them ok, but I think he would like them without the nuts, etc in them. Your brownies look wonderful!

Ah, these brownies are definitely more for adults than kids - I don't doubt they didn't like them but that means more for you! They look fantastic!

I think your brownies look great. I like thin fudge-like brownies.

yumm! your brownies look so tempting!

Your brownies look great! B&G weren't big fans either, but that's because they don't really like nuts in their brownies. I don't usually put them in, but I enjoyed them in this recipe.
